ELEPHANT is a blisteringly original piece of theatre that refuses to behave. It roars, it sings, and it asks the questions Lylah was never allowed to voice out loud.

Growing up in a world where silence was survival, Lylah knew how to keep her head down. At school, she had to be brilliant, not just smart, but perfect – to keep the scholarship that unlocked doors others took for granted. At home, she swallowed her words while her cousins laughed at the way she spoke and her parents, exhausted by invisible battles, had no energy left to listen.

And then, as if conjured by the parts of her she’d learned to hide, a piano fell from the sky. Landed right there in her council flat,  absurd, magical, loud. In that moment, something cracked open. Sound became refuge. Music became resistance.

ELEPHANT is a story about a young Black woman finding her voice through rhythm, history, and a defiant kind of joy. It’s about what happens when your roots are tangled in Empire, and you’re trying to make art out of the mess.

Told through a genre-blending score and an electric performance at its heart, ELEPHANT doesn’t ask for permission, it sings, it shouts, and it dares to imagine a Britain where every note, every question, every version of identity is heard.
